This Fly Fishing Traditions "Floating Spey Clinic" is an eight hour floating clinic on the Lower Yuba River in my hand-crafted wooden drift boat. This floating spey clinic will focus on what "you" want to learn and will be crafted to meet "your" expectations and "your" experience level as a spey fisher. You will spend the day learning the different spey casts and techniques used for trout and steelhead angling as we drift the Lower Yuba River.

I will show you how to rigg your spey rod and line it correctly. You will learn the techniques necessary to be successful when fishing with a spey rod. The clinic will be spent floating the river in my drift boat and stopping to wade where you'll learn different spey casts such as:

  • Wading Gear
  • Spey or Switch Rod
  • Running Line w/ matching Skagit Head and MOW tip
  • Special Diet Lunches
  • Special Drink
  • Chair & Notepad

Fly Fishing Traditions Spey School Details

  • Classes will include shore BBQ lunches, snacks and drinks for both days.
  • "Sage" Spey or Switch Rods will be provided upon request.
  • FFT Published Booklets are included
  • Students are responsible to bring their own rod reel and wading gear.
  • Students must possess a valid California Fishing License and Steelhead Report Card
  • The Floating Spey Clinic will take place on the Lower Yuba River
  • Lunch, Snacks and Non-alcoholic beverages are included in the spey clinic fee.
  • Bring your own special non-alcoholic beverages of choice
  • Deduct $25 per person if you choose to bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks

Fly Fishing Traditions Floating Spey Clinic Fee Schedule

The Fly Fishing Traditions Spey School is for 1 or 2 students. This School is especially suited for fly fishers associated with Fly Clubs and for Fly Shop Clients who want to advance their spey skills. Get a friend and schedule your floating spey clinic.

  • 1 or 2 people: $450 a day
  • 15% Discount offered to Fly Club members
